After 5 years with a reel mower losing to my thick grass, I decided to step it up and get something powered. Having only 250 sqft of grass and some tight spots (mobile home), a small corded electric made sense.
The first time I used it, it seemed so small and I was a little worried that the grass would be too thick for it, too. But cutting 3-4" grass laid-down (by the previous mower) to a nice, even 2" is difficult for any mower, especially when set up as a mulcher. A little patience, and the yard was done. I have not worried about it since.
Having grown up with gas mowers, the electric is quieter, and mulching is far easier to deal with than bagging and safer than side-discharge. 14" is the perfect size for a smaller yard. The folding handle is a big help fitting it in my tiny shed. It is very well-built and I hope to get several years of use out of it.

Earthwise 50214 14-Inch 8 Amp Electric Lawn Mower
I have used this since May and am thoroughly delighted with the product. From the multi-adjustable handles, the child-proof power lever, the power cord attachment and cord keeper, the slightly larger rear wheels, I am impressed! The 14 inch blade is unstoppable in thick Bermuda grass due to its 8 amp source. My old 18 inch 9 amp was a terror to manipulate and though only slightly lighter, the weight distribution and the slightly larger rear wheels of the Earthwise make it feel much lighter. Oddly enough my old 9 amp would heat the power connection in my storeroom but with this mower it does not heat up at all! I would highly recommend it for mid-size lawns.

With a small yard like mine, the standard 18 -21 inch electric mowers were hard to maneuver and too heavy. Although just somewhat lighter than my old 18 inch Toro, this maneuverable 14 incher is still much better for my small yard. It's also a nice product. The engine is quiet even for an electric, and it's 8 amps are more than the 6.5A in the my old 18in Toro, so the engine has some grunt when the grass gets thick. Plastic housing is light but stiff and should be durable. I would say this is a well engineered and well built product overall. If it suits your yard size (small), you will like it.
